Last day to vote-- due to some last minute contributions I don't think I have to worry about it, but last night we had a worst case scenario going on, with a three way tie for third place, which would have been amusing. The line between making and not making the cut is still obtainable (two directors are two votes away from forcing a tie), and let me emphasize again that you won't be voting for a List Project again for some time-- I've run the numbers, I will be able to provide a schedule through 2022 once the results are finalized here. Who knows if we'll even have movies that far into the future

Final results of polling from 32 members: Chabrol and Wilder tied for first, with Preminger just behind. The Wilder List will include films he wrote but did not direct, since otherwise his output is too low. For those curious, the short-lived three way tie was between Preminger and Wyler and Soderbergh-- better luck next time, fellas! Wyler and Soderbergh were way ahead of Wilder and Preminger up until the last couple days, and Chabrol was always in the lead from the start (thank you everyone for realizing your error). In four years Soderbergh will probably have another thirty qualifying films, anyways. Shakespeare List is a go, the Horror and Musicals Reduxes will not run concurrent with other non-decade lists, and the Cesar Awards "List" will be an on-going affair like the Alt Best Pictures-- though we will be finally tabulating those this spring in a massive three-way Oscar List! I will be creating the Cesar Awards thread soon...

So, what does this mean? Well, below is our schedule through 2022. Other than the Oscar, Horror, and Chabrol lists, which I purposely scheduled, the order of all other post-Allen lists was decided with a random generator

Sounds great. I'm happy the horror and sci-fi projects are of six months' duration, and I like the way they're all spread out.

I was eyeing on the Czech New Wave list but I'll be dead by then...
Why so heavy on Americans until late 2021 (except for Chabrol)?

There are lists on Renoir and Godard in progress right now. Before that were Buñuel, Lang, and Bergman. In fact, the Ford list in progress right now is the first ever Auteur list for an American director.

08/20 - 05/21 2010s (just for fun, doesn't affect eligibility for all-time list)

11/22 - 08/23 1980s
08/23 - 05/24 1990s
05/24 - 02/25 2000s
02/25 - 11/25 2010s (for real this time)
11/25 - 04/26 2020-2024 (1st half of 2020s)
04/26 - 12/26 The All-Time List

Note the new nine-month timeframe for each decade to space things out better. (I like a year to have passed before we do a newly completed time period.)

Also, how do people feel about the two-week period for Round 2? Too long? Too short? Just right?

Is the Internet still going to be around then?

I sure hope not

I like the idea of a pause between the 50s and 60s, which gives time to see films from earlier decades that we haven’t had time for or more time to prepare for the upcoming ones.

I'd definitely cherish to do the 2010s 'just for fun' as early as August 2020. Somehow I think that the 2010s has been one of the best decades for filmmaking since the 1960s, so I'd really love to come to terms with it.

Well I've used that time to catch up on all those supplements from the films I acquired for the project (the keepers anyway) that I didn't have time for during the thing itself just because I had to use all of it to get through as many as possible (I'm quite compulsive about not putting discs away until I've gone through all of the extras), so 2 weeks is very welcome, and a third I wouldn't have a problem with. I even had extras from the biopics list that were still waiting for me! (Three cheers for Woody Allen.)

August 2020 is too early to do 2010s. There will be plenty of 2019 films that will still be trickling out around the world and not yet released in cinema, let alone out on home video. This was part of the argument restricting our first run through of the 2010s to 2014 at the latest. I don’t want to feel obliged to puruse expensive imports or pirate films that are still just making their natural journey.

Do it after the 1960s if people are desperate to do it.

Or just take this as a fun exercise and not some definitive statement.

The timing of the 2010-2014 list had it ending in May of 2016, so 17 months after the period had ended. This proposed schedule has the exact same timing for the 2010s.

Hey everyone, I realized I overestimated the time needed between the Shakespeare List end date and Horror List Redux start date and thought this might be a good opportunity to do a (very) quick mini-list in between the two. One thing I'd been thinking about that never got put up for a vote is music videos, which with YouTube would make just about any potential title easily watchable by all members in a matter of minutes. What would everyone think about a three week mini-list of 25 submissions/50 on the final list music videos occurring in late September into early October?

That sounds like a lot of fun, and something I’m sure many here (myself included) could feel comfortable participating in without feeling too much time pressure.
