I have watched Maborosi and After Life more times than I can count. ;-)

Both get better with each re-watching.

This isn't among the May titles being listed on Amazon, but I hope its still coming in May.

Presumably after the fact, the BFI updated their webpage to clarify that the Southbank season will be taking place in May and the Blu-Ray release will follow in July

Of Flesh and Blood
I guess now we know why Air Doll wasn’t included

I was surprised and a little disappointed that the BFI Southbank's Kore-eda retrospective didn't include any of his documentaries, so presumably there's no chance of them showing up here as extras either.

Looks like these are the only special features, according to Blu-ray.com
  • Q+A with Hirokazu Kore-eda (2019): a newly filmed interview with the director, recorded at the BFI Southbank during its major retrospective of his work
  • Illustrated booklet

I imagine there will be more special features revealed when its closer to release. BFI releases, especially of late, are announced with little or nothing in way of supplements, and then explode with content later.

The Amazon webpage states : "Other extras TBC"
It's indeed frequent these months that the BFI only refines their extra features listing closer to the release date.

Audio commentaries for all four films have been added to this box: Jasper Sharp on Maborosi, Tara Judah does Afterlife, Kenta McGrath covers Nobody Knows and Alexander Jacoby gives yet another reason to sell my Criterion of Still Walking.

It would be very nice if the “other extras TBC” were to include the documentary in which the actress in Maborosi revisited the coastal region where the second haft of the movie was filmed.

I know where I can find a subbed version of it; but ...

You can borrow my copy of the Milestone BluRay... (it was nice seeing this -- at long last -- subbed).

Thanks for the offer, Michael. I will keep that in mind.

I have the soundtrack of Maborosi on CD. That’s another very nice thing for the BFI to consider for those “other extras”.

According to a blu-ray.com member : "Bearer of bad news, but also confirmed by the BFI that the "Nobody Knows" disc has an audio sync issue and unfortunately will be released this way as they work on a replacement disc program."

I have to say that it is a small inconvenience in the long run. Being in South Africa I've never had the slightest problem or hassle when it came to requesting or receiving replacement discs from the BFI. They are a model to others in the way they take pride in what they do, and addressing problems instead of just walking away

While it is true that there was a manufacturing fault with the Nobody Knows disc, the bit in bold is completely untrue.

The BFI's position is as follows (posted with permission):
During the manufacturing of this release an error was introduced that resulted in the audio on Disc 3 (Nobody Knows) to be thrown out of synch. This isn’t something we could have foreseen but we are now in the process of getting it fixed. Due to this the release date will now be August 12th. Please note that no faulty copies have left warehouse and therefore no disc replacement programme will be necessary. We sincerely apologise for this delay and any disappointment it has caused.
If anyone would be kind enough to post that in the Blu-ray.com thread (I can't as I'm permanently banned), do please feel free.

Perfect then ! While the BFI are amongst the easiest label to get a replacement disc from, it's of course always better to know the product is right straight away.

I don't mind the delay, especially as I'm more likely to be able to afford this next month (assuming I don't get lured into getting that Jissoji set from Arrow).

I picked this up yesterday, on the strength of Shoplifters, which completely blew me away. This box has come at the right time for me, as I wanted to explore his back catalogue. Really looking forward to this.
