I am only interested in the 1968 film, but I guess it will be the same transfer as the already released Umbrella BD.

Another JB Hi-Fi exclusive which I'm interested in is Journey to the Far Side of the Sun (1969). Special edition including two cuts of the film.

Don't get too excited.
The long unseen UK version of the movie has a different title and that seems to be it but the quality of the print is so poor compared to the regular version on the disc it's unlikely you'll ever watch it all the way through.

But it's still the best disc of the movie in the world and the PDF extras from Fanderson also make for very interesting reading

The Blu-ray of Roadgames (from a 4K restoration) has gone back three weeks to 27 July. I'd preordered it directly from Umbrella and they're going to send me a "randomly-selected Blu-ray" with my order as compensation for the delay.

Nice gesture from them for just a 3 weeks delay.

Of all the films out there, I’m not sure how this one would get lumped in as exploitation - ‘ozploitation’ is a term that didn’t exist until 2008, it’s not like it was an industry-wide movement. Mark Hartley, you’ve a lot to answer for.

In other news, Umbrella have also released a 4K restored BD of Rolf de Heer’s The Tracker.

Oh, and Madman released a restored edition of Rowan Woods’ The Boys last year. All 3 are great films, well worth seeing.

Indeed, I would never have considered “The Chant of Jimmy Blacksmith” as exploitation cinema. Anyone who seeks it out as such is likely to be disappointed.

Great film, by the way.

So Umbrella are getting in on the limited slipcover thing with a new line. Along with a few titles released elsewhere in the world, they've got some really interesting films coming in 2018, a couple barely released at all since VHS.
Umbrella Entertainment wrote:Umbrella Entertainment is proud to announce the launch of our curated range of Blu-ray releases, BEYOND GENRES: WORLDS ON FILM. This series, starting with our June releases of Stuart Gordon and Brian Yuzna's seminal Re-Animator trilogy (Re-Animator, Bride of Re-Animator and Beyond Re-Animator), and continuing with Gordon's cult Lovecraftian tale, Dagon in July, will aim to shine a spotlight on films that offer more to their genres than the standard bag of tropes.
Each first-pressing release of the Beyond Genres collection will be packaged in an o-ring slip featuring exclusive artwork and reversible sleeves with poster and production art and will be strictly limited. From trailblazing cult movies previously lost to late-night television and the VHS graveyard to art-house classics that defy the expectations of their genres, the Beyond Genres: Worlds on Film collection will be a worthy addition to the shelves of any cinephile.
...we will be unleashing the following titles in 2018:
RAZORBACK
Newly restored from a 4K scan [...] in a brand new edition with newly commissioned special features!
SPIRITS OF THE AIR, GREMLINS OF THE CLOUDS
The debut feature from director Alex Proyas (Dark City, The Crow), this post-apocalyptic vision arrives newly re-mastered from a 2K scan on
blu-ray for the first time in the world.
NEXT OF KIN
Tony Williams' unsettling horror tale set in a remote retirement home hits blu-ray newly remastered from a 4K scan and for the first time worldwide.
THE QUIET EARTH
THE NAVIGATOR: A MEDIEVAL ODYSSEY
Vincent Ward's striking tale of medieval pilgrims travelling through time to save their village [...] comes to blu-ray newly remastered from a 2K scan for the first time in the world.

In addition to Razorback, which is due next month, the preorder for Alex Proyas' SPIRITS OF THE AIR, GREMLINS OF THE CROWD is now live.https://www.umbrellaent.com.au/coming-s ... enres.html.

I haven't seen it, myself. Can anyone here recommend it?

Bruce Beresford's Ladies in Black has been released on Blu Ray and is region free (I tested in the disc in my Region A player and it played fine), and the back of the box states ABC. Whilst is has narration for the vision impaired and English subtitles for the hearing impaired there are no other special features to speak of. Visually it looks great.

I still haven't heard if that's even going to get a UK release. There's a showing of it in London in March, which Beresford will be introducing, so all going well that's when I'll see it, and I'm looking forward to it.
