I've never heard of Toshiaki Toyoda, is he worth anything?
Also, how can I check if La Chinoise still has a booklet?

Images and The Third Murder as well.

Mystery of Picasso, the Kore-eda box, and Montparnasse 19 were all "limited availability" when I was checking out (though I don't know if that means anything in the case of the last one.)

I bought what I wanted, except for The Navigator, which isn't on sale.

I couldn't tell you, since I haven't dug into the package yet, but maybe others can. The set contains Pornostar (AKA Tokyo Rampage; a man goes on a sudden killing spree of yakuza), Unchain (documentary on failed boxer Unchain Kaji), and 9 Souls (a group of deranged criminals escape prison to find a large sum of cash).

I'm not sure if you can. Usually it's a bit of a gamble -- I ordered Matinee, Carrie, and Tenebrae in October, and was pleasantly surprised to see that the former two had booklets, despite the extras tab not mentioning any such inclusion.

I picked up Heathers (first time on sale?), Bloody Spear, The Burbs for 5 pounds, and the Ghost in the Shell book for the Missus.

Can anyone vouch for the Rohmer collection? Worth pulling the trigger for 50 pounds?

This sale kind of blows. Pretty much anything I might have wanted to purchase is already sold out. I know that’s somewhat beyond their control but then they do things like offer The Third Murder for 6 pounds. That’s okay, I only just received the last of my items from the previous sale, so I’m equally as happy shopping somewhere that uses a more reasonable shipping service.

That said, this seems like a good time to pick up their line of books at 7.50 pounds apiece.

Absolutely. Though I've only managed to see his first four films, they've all been thoroughly enjoyable, feeding on the youth-gone-wild theme of Japanese cinema from the 1960's/70's, and perhaps taking inspiration from director's like Takashi Miike & Ishii Sogo but he really has his own style that develops over the course of these films. The only missing link from the set really is his third one Blue Spring, a tale of high school gangs.

I don't have much more in me for writing right now but, here's a couple of old reviews by Tom Mes from Midnight Eye & a trailer for my favourite - 9 Souls, a prison break film that's more interested in the escapees than the escape; with a great sense of style & a wonderful soundtrack. The trailer pretty much sums up the films approach, though it goes a lot deeper than that.

A lot of items are back in stock now, including The Third Murder and Irma Vep.

Everything was back in stock this morning (EST), I had a feeling that would be the case. It seemed yesterday things went Out of Stock so quickly that they must have only listed only a portion of their stock for each item. I think (if I am not mistaken) Arrow has done this before, and as a customer I like this practice a lot, it gives people a few cracks at getting a certain item. And it brings customers that missed a certain item back to the website to check later in the sale, probably resulting in more sales. A win, win (save for the initial panic in the first day... count me among those that feared I had missed on The Third Murder for good)

Nice! Thanks for the heads-up, Irma Vep came back into stock so I got that as well as La Chinoise.

I guess I should have done my usual wait until after Xmas, oh well. Maybe I'll give it another look before it ends. When does it end?

Any chance of The Big Combo or Force Of Evil coming back in stock before sale’s end? I can kick myself for putting them in my cart when Amazon had them for 8.99 each, but somehow failing to hit buy, only to return & find them completely out of stock.

Maybe I'm not seeing it, but those two titles didn't appear to be marked down for this sale, and I definitely had my eye on Force of Evil, so I did a thorough check on that one. Even when Irma Vep was out of stock, the sale price would still show.

I imagined they’re not listed in the sale (whereas Secret Beyond The Door Is in the sale) because both were out of stock for a while now. I wasn’t much interested in the whole box, so I was rather surprised these became completely unavailable so soon after being unboxed.

Edit: The page for Force Of Evil has been completely removed despite an icon still showing up in the new to Blu-Ray section, I hope it’s not completely OOP.

My guess is that it is currently awaiting a re-print. Remember this is a regular / non-LE edition, as such unless they lose the rights (which I doubt would have happened so quickly) they will resurface again (probably in the new year at this point). So, I would say be patient, they should be back again.

My order arrived a few days ago. Spider Baby, Phenomena, and Audition do not have booklets (admittedly, the last two are no surprise) while Suture does.

Only the Phenomena LE and steelbook edition of Audition had the booklet, FWIW.

I asked Arrow about Force Of Evil a few days ago. This is the answer i recieved:
"It isn’t OOP but is unavailable at the moment, we are working on getting this available again soon."
So that's good news :)

Does anybody know why Amazon.co.uk currently has the latest Arrow releases at such high prices ? Born Yesterday is over £20 and The Fifth Cord and The Possessed at £19.93.
