That'll make for a tremendous alternative to the 30€ French digibook (16 pages booklet...) of The Revenge of Frankensteing and which uses the vastly outdated master Mill Creek used.

Fantastic news! I cannot wait. Now, I wish I knew whether to wait for a Hammer Vol. 5 that might include Sword of Sherwood Forest and The Pirates of Blood River or if I should just go ahead and get those from Twilight Time while they're on sale (I'd vastly prefer them from Indicator). Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to recall someone saying that Indicator will definitely not release Hound of the Baskervilles?

Arrow has already released an excellent and still in-print edition of Hound of the Baskervilles, and to date Indicator has released nothing from the MGM library (in which it resides).

Thanks, MichaelB, yes that's what I thought. I have the Twilight Time release (I'm sure the Arrow is superior but I am a Region A only consumer). Perhaps there's still hope for the other two titles I mentioned to come in an adventure themed Hammer Vol 5 set? I remember there being mention in a thread here about a potential volume five which may require additional licensors, but then someone on the blu-ray.com forum referred to it as the "mooted" volume five set, so now I'm not sure.

Someone on blu-ray.com suggested The Quatermass Xperiment, Quatermass II, X the Unknown, and The Abominable Snowman as a possible Vol. 5 which would be excellent. Not sure if it's possible or not.

Well, if they do decide to start region-locking these Hammer sets, that hypothesized volume 5 would be the one to split off with since most of those are now region 1 releases from Shout.

I don't know of a single UK boutique label that "decides" to region-lock something - the decision is invariably made for them at the time of licensing.

Sorry. I misspoke. I meant, veering into Hammer films that require region-locking.

Excellent. This contains at least two of Hammer's best stand alone films with The Damned (about youths gone wild, with the juvenile delinquent genre running up against darker experimentation by the older generation on the younger one) and Taste of Fear (aka Scream of Fear in the US) which is the studio's take on Les diaboliques and contains the valuable life lesson that wheelchairs and swimming pools do not mix!

I would really love a sci-fi Hammer set, though since the Quatermass films are well known it might be especially exciting if that kind of set would get Spaceways (apparently the first sci-fi film made in Britain since Things To Come) and The Four-Sided Triangle onto Blu-ray. Maybe make it a Terence Fisher triple bill with Pygmalion-meets-plastic surgery doppleganger romantic drama Stolen Face!

It seems that with each new Hammer volume, Indicator increases the amount of extra material; in this one we now have a commentary for each title (instead of just one as in Vol. 1) and also commentaries for the trailers! Plus the usual offering of interviews and mini-documentaries, including the always enlightening talks about the scores by David Huckvale at the piano, who always make a good case even for minor or neglected movie music composers.

Revenge of Frankenstein is not my favourite title in the series with that character, but the accompanying extras might help me appreciate it further. This box also includes two titles I do not recall ever seeing, so there is much to look forward to.

There had ben speculation about a possible science-fiction set that would have included The Damned, but I am glad to see this film maudit being made available in such a rich package without having to wait much longer; it will certainly be a giant improvement on the DVD release I have. I believe there are still enough Hammere SF titles to make up such a set, although the Quatermass titles are probably off-limits since all three have been released on BD in Region A, and only the second one is missing on BD in Region B. The Abominable Snowman is coming in Region A from Shout so perhaps a Region B version is not far behind.

This announcement is another testimonial to all the great work the Indicator team puts into gathering together such indispensable releases, once again Region-free in this case.

I love Taste of Fear which is my favourite Hammer of those I've seen. I think at least two forum members spoke highly of The Two Faces of Dr Jekyll in the Horror list project so I'm looking forward to seeing it for the first time along with The Damned.

This should be indispensable. Two truly remarkable films, The Damned and Revenge of Frankenstein, in major restorations.

Reading that full list of specs is certainly something to make one drool. It makes me wonder if the people at Indicator are constantly working double or triple overtime, or if they ever get any sleep, as they must be very busy coming up with all those exciting extras and then assembling them or producing them anew (for this release as well as the rest of their catalogue).

Amazon UK says the release date has been pushed back to November 25, but the Powerhouse site still lists it as November 18. A week delay would not be surprising considering the amount of work necessary to gather all of it together.

I’m not aware of any delay, although it’s out of the production team’s hands now as it’s been signed off for manufacture.

The Powerhouse/Indicator Web site has now been updated to reflect the later release date. One week is not dramatic and the set should still show up just in time to make a nice self-gift for the holidays.

Every time I see a listing for this release it's as if new bonus material was added. Or perhaps I just failed to notice it earlier, like the poster for those who ordered directly from Powerhouse. The reviews that are starting to come out certainly point to this being one of the richest releases of the year in terms of content; the production team really went all out for this one and they needed 5 discs in total to fit all of the material. Once again region-free, something that might not hold true with future Hammer box sets if Indicator starts using titles from StudioCanal that already have a Region A version from Shout or KL for example.

So only about 3 weeks before these start shipping (the company usually ships to direct customers a few days before the official release date). This is the best incentive for taking advantage of the special bundle offer Indicator has going on for a few more days.

I received an e-mail this morning from Indicator/Lime Wood saying that an order including my pre-ordered Hammer Vol. 4 was shipped. Which would mean that they were able in the end to hold to the originally announced release date of November 18. However their Web site still indicates November 25 as the release date. If true to past experience, this means it should show up here in Canada early next week (UK Royal Mail is very efficient apparently).

It might be that they got a first batch from the manufacturer and are servicing direct customers first, while they will supply vendors when they get the bulk of their stock.

Has anyone else's order been confirmed as shipped about a week early?

Yes, mine has shipped too. Early shipping on direct orders is normal with Indicator.

I know, but I seem to remember a few days being the norm, not a little over a week. Not that I am complaining, on the contrary. Indicator and their suppliers need to be commended on their efficiency. Of course, an item has to be physically ready some time in advance of the official release date for it to have time to get to the various vendors to meet that date.
