Thirst is with Focus/Universal in the U.S. Supposedly the most recent title in the Universal deal was from 2009, so I'm guessing this is it.

Coming to Blu-ray February 12th from Kino Classics!

F.W. Murnau's
THE HAUNTED CASTLE (1921) and THE FINANCES OF THE GRAND DUKE (1924)

Double Feature - two films on one disc

Before plumbing the depths of horror and despair with such films as NOSFERATU (1922) and FAUST (1926), Friedrich Wilhelm Murnau crafted a moody drama of a storm-bound manor and the grim mystery that lurks within: THE HAUNTED CASTLE.

Also included on this double feature Blu-ray is THE FINANCES OF THE GRAND DUKE, which has Murnau exploring the realm of light comedy in a playful espionage thriller reminiscent of Ernst Lubitsch.

Special Feature:
*Audio commentary for THE FINANCES OF THE GRAND DUKE by film historian David Kalat

With no time to lose, he must convince her to give him the key before unspeakable evil is unleashed upon the world by the Minion, a demonic servant of the Antichrist who will do everything in its power to possess the key and see that its sinister master is freed. And only Lucas—a modern-day warrior trained in the ancient arts—can defeat the ultimate evil. Director Jean-Marc Piché made his feature film debut with this action-packed horror-fantasy.

Hy Averback (I Love You, Alice B. Toklas!) directed this hilarious and wild comedy with an all-star cast in the tradition of The Russian Are Coming! The Russians Are Coming! Brian Keith (The McKenzie Break), Ernest Borgnine (Marty), Suzanne Pleshette (Support Your Local Gunfighter) and Tony Curtis (Those Daring Young Men in Their Jaunty Jalopies) co-star in this sharp and amusing comedy that pits the fed-up brass of an Army base against the fired-up citizens of a nearby town. In an effort to shore up a shaky truce between civilians and base personnel, three hapless Army buddies find themselves appointed “community public relations officers.” Unfortunately, Sergeant Shannon Gambroni’s (Curtis) idea of community relations include pursuing and wooing Ramona (Pleshette), a sexy waitress whom Sheriff Harve (Borgnine) considers his personal property. And when ammo and amour finally clash, in an outrageous battle royal, who will ultimately surrender? The first-rate cast includes Ivan Dixon (A Patch of Blue), Tom Ewell (The Seven Year Itch), Bradford Dillman (Chosen Survivors), Arthur O’Connell (Anatomy of a Murder), John Fiedler (The Cannonball Run), Christopher Mitchum (Big Jake) and screen great Don Ameche (Midnight).

UNTAMED HEART (1993) with optional English subtitles

Color 102 Minutes 1.85:1 Rated PG-13
Marisa Tomei (Oscar, My Cousin Vinny) and Christian Slater (Heathers, True Romance) deliver brilliant performances in this touchingly honest and beautifully crafted modern-day love story. Tomei portrays Caroline, a diner waitress who is consistently and miserably unlucky at love. Slater is Adam, the diner’s busboy who harbors a secret crush on Caroline, yet is too shy to speak to her. But all that changes one cold night, when Caroline finds herself in a life-threatening situation on her walk home and Adam appears out of the shadows to rescue her. Intrigued by her unlikely knight in shining armor, Caroline tenderly breaks through to his lonely world. Together, the two forge a bond of trust and understanding that ultimately blossoms into one of cinema’s most unforgettable love stories. Wonderfully directed by Tony Bill (My Bodyguard, Five Corners) with a screenplay by Tom Sierchio (The Girl Who Invented Kissing). Co-starring Rosie Perez (White Men Can’t Jump, Do the Right Thing), who lends her own unique brand of energy and talent to this romantic classic.

Here are the full quotes from today's email newsletter:
Already 2019 is promising even more. We’re thrilled to be releasing classics like Alain Resnais’s Last Year at Marienbad (pictured above), Jean-Luc Godard’s Alphaville, Joseph Losey’s Accident, Henri-Georges Clouzot’s La Prisonnière, Marcel Carné’s Port of Shadows, Jacques Rivette’s The Nun, as well as films by Jean-Pierre Melville, Carol Reed, and Alfred Hitchcock, all part of our new deal with France's preeminent media company StudioCanal.

Also coming from across the pond via BFI, we’ll be releasing three classics of British silent cinema: Underground, The Informer, and Shooting Stars on our Kino Classics label. Selections from our popular American Film Theatre DVD box set will finally be making their way to Blu-ray starting with an adaptation of Eugene O’Neill’s play The Iceman Cometh directed by John Frankenheimer and starring Lee Marvin and Jeff Bridges. We’ll be rounding out our collection of Mario Bava films with the release of two lesser-known genre gems, Knives of the Avenger and Four Times that Night. And we’re proud to have a trio of films by Tunisian master Férid Boughedir — Halfaouine, A Summer in La Goulette, and Zizou.
On the Kino Lorber Studio Classics front...

The year 2019 will bring exciting home video releases from the Universal library including Don Siegel’s Charley Varrick, Todd Haynes’s Far From Heaven, Douglas Sirk’s The Tarnished Angels, and several early Spike Lee joints including Jungle Fever and Crooklyn (pictured above). From MGM comes Hal Ashby’s The Landlord and a new 4K master of Mississippi Burning. Add to that Martin Scorsese’s Kundun, Preston Sturges’s The Great McGinty, Rian Johnson’s Brick, a 4K restoration of Cy Coleman/Neil Simon/Bob Fosse musical collaboration Sweet Charity, and a selection of beloved Ealing comedies with the inimitable Alec Guinness, and you’ve got a sense of the breadth (and volume) of the releases our most popular label puts out.

The Great McGinty is a surprise since I assumed the Universal-owned Sturges films would eventually be released by Criterion. I wonder what the status is for The Lady Eve and for the other Paramount titles?

A Murder! A Suspect! A Shadow of a Doubt! Hollywood greats Meryl Streep (Silkwood) and Liam Neeson (The Good Mother) deliver spellbinding performances in this riveting, suspense-filled thriller by the great Barbet Schroeder, the director of Maîtresse, Barfly, Single White Female and Reversal of Fortune. Suddenly, Dr. Carolyn Ryan (Streep) and her husband Ben (Neeson) are faced with a gut-wrenching dilemma: whether to risk everything on their son’s innocence... or protect him from his possible guilt. Devastating yet powerfully entertaining, you’re sure to agree with critics everywhere who found Before and After thrilling from beginning to end. THE FAVOR (1994) with optional English subtitles

You know what they say about favors... never ask anyone to do something you wouldn't do yourself! From Donald Petrie, the director of Miss Congeniality and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days comes a funny, light-hearted comedy of errors about a woman who learns this lesson the hard way. Starring Harley Jane Kozak (The Taking of Beverly Hills), Elizabeth McGovern (The Bedroom Window), Bill Pullman (Mr. Wrong), Brad Pitt (Fight Club) and Ken Wahl (The Wanderers). On the eve of her fifteenth high school reunion, Kathy (Kozak) fantasizes about making love to her hunky ex-boyfriend Tom (Wahl)... because she never got to in high school. Now married, Kathy devises an ingenious way to sleep with Tom without cheating: sex through proxy. Begging her open-minded best friend Emily (McGovern) to seduce her old flame so she can get all the juicy details, Kathy is unprepared for the consequences when Emily falls for Tom. Suddenly it's like high school all over again as these two friends sharpen their claws over “the favor” that has gone too far. C
