Janus hasn't announced anything in a while. Is this normal for them since it seemed like they were announcing a title a month?

Probably more will be announced once some of the current films finish their runs. I'm sure their Bergman retrospective is still eating up alot of time / resources - as quite a few theaters are playing Bergman films presently. That said, the following are newly touring / coming soon:

One Sings, the Other Doesn’t
L'atalante (4k restoration)
Detour (1945, Ulmer)
The Eyes of Orson Welles (2018, Cousins)

There's also this list of films that are making the rounds from Janus. I'd expect some of them to show up on the main Janus page. Not everything does though, as they probably don't plan to go through all the trouble as with their "main" national touring films - which requires a new poster, press kit, trailer, etc.

The Baker's Wife (1938, Pagnol)
Black Peter (Forman)
Crucified Lovers (1954, Mizoguchi)
La Fièvre Monte à El Pao (1959, Buñuel)
The Left-Handed Woman (1978, Handke)
More (1969, Schroeder)
I Mostri (1963, Risi) - Played at MOMA in 2016 with new restoration with credit to Janus
My Brilliant Career (1979, Armstrong)
La Vallée [Obscured by Clouds] (1972, Schroeder)
-----

I wouldn't be surprised if their next "big tour" after Bergman would be the Godzilla films.

The new restoration of Detour will start touring in the fall. So that page will probably get added in the near future.

Thanks so much for telling me! However, hasn't 'One Sings, The Other Doesn't' been touring for a while now? I remember seeing it on the homepage months ago.

Yes, I just saw that! Interesting to note that all of his films are getting a 4K restoration and that there is a new version of 'Zéro de conduite' with 5 more minutes of unseen footage.

Three more titles have been added to the site:

Marcel Pagnol's The Baker's Wife
Jackie Chan's Police Story and Police Story 2

Also Sisters is now included on the front page, so maybe there's some theatrical dates coming up soon.

Indeed. There's a screening in Portland at the end of October.

Yasujiro Ozu's The Flavor of Green Tea Over Rice is now appearing on the Janus Films site. Is this new?

I don't know if the film is new to the Janus Films' site, but Film Forum is showing a new 4K restoration of it starting December 14th.

Their new Repertory newsletter also includes dates for Detour (11/30), and The Baker's Wife (12/21), plus a one-week run of The Seventh Seal in early December.

That was released in the Chantal Akerman Eclipse set years ago.

That's what I'm thinking, unless it's a glitch.

The Cinémathèque Royale de Belgique in collab. with the Akerman Foundation has a restoration that's been making the rounds for a while: https://bampfa.org/event/les-rendez-vous-d%E2%80%99anna

I was half-holding out hope they'd give us a box and upgrade the whole Eclipse set, since Je, Tu, Il, Elle and News from Home (and according to this interview, the other pre-Dielmann films) have also been restored.

This is great, but Criterion have already released this film as part of the Eclipse set – it's Akerman's stuff from the decade that followed (All One Night, The Eighties, Golden Eighties, Letters Home, Night and Day and Portrait of a Young Girl in Brussels, plus all her incredible shorts and TV work) that urgently needs to be restored and released. Let's hope that the Belgian Cinematek are working hard on this back catalogue and that some of it is not too far behind...

I'd also love The Man with the Suitcase, but that's all I've seen of her 80s work. They claim to be working with the Foundation to restore her whole filmography, so one day... In the meantime, I'd still take BD releases of the ones that have already been restored.

The new 4K restoration is actually playing now at BAM Rose Cinemas. Here's Jim Hoberman's write-up in the New York Times.

Last night I saw The Flavor of Green Tea over Rice. First time for this and in typical Ozu fashion I was riveted by his subtlety and the daily interactions of his characters lives.

For those waiting for the next Ozu blu you will be in for a treat. The restoration looks amazing.

Why would they not cut the trailer to the film's kick ass theme sung by Chan himself?
