Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics Acquisitions
Nice, I criticized y'all earlier in the year for not doing this with the Crosby/Hope comedies, but I'd like to see more of this kind of thing: bundle smaller films together and give customers more bang for their buck-- and ignore the mouth-breathers who whine that they can't organize their OCD shelves with sets like this

All for it too. I much prefer this than individual releases that will end up costing more to the consumers (like Olive did with tons of their early westerns).

Helen Twelvetrees! That reminds me of hearing Jon Pertwee tell an amusingMillie (1931) Dir: John Francis Dillon | Helen Twelvetrees, Lilyan Tashman & Joan Blondell
story about how he was once mistaken for her.

Yep. By themselves I wouldn't be too interested, but as a set this is a lot more compelling for me.domino harvey wrote: ↑Fri Feb 08, 2019 2:06 pmNice, I criticized y'all earlier in the year for not doing this with the Crosby/Hope comedies, but I'd like to see more of this kind of thing: bundle smaller films together and give customers more bang for their buck-- and ignore the mouth-breathers who whine that they can't organize their OCD shelves with sets like this

Sometimes the licensing agreements prevent combo releases, which I imagine was the case with the Road films. These RKO films are through Lobster Films, it seems.

Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics Acquisitions
Not sure if it's the best place to discuss that, but probably : I watched this week The Night Strangler and The Night Stalker and was taken aback by the SDH subtitles punctuation issues that basically turned all the full stops into commas, rendering the subs quite bothering to follow. I'm not an avid buyer of KL releases so I don't know if these are one-off issues or if this is more widespread, but I'd recommend KL to be more careful into checking this kind of things.
PQ was top notch, though.

• Fantômas (1964) - Trailer
• Fantômas Unleashed (1965) - Trailer

Pierre Souvestre’s Fantômas was originally adapted for the screen by legendary filmmaker Louis Feuillade (Les vampires) in 1913. André Hunebelle (OSS 117: Mission for a Killer) introduced a revamped and modernized version of Fantômas to the 1960s OSS 117 and 007 audience. All three films starred the great Jean Marais (Jean Cocteau’s Beauty and the Beast) as Fantômas, a criminal mastermind and man of a thousand faces. The three films co-starred Louis de Funès as Le commissaire Juve, Mylène Demongeot as Hélène, Jacques Dynam as L’inspecteur Bertrand and Robert Dalban as Le directeur du journal. The first film, Fantomas (Fantômas), was released in 1964, followed by Fantomas Unleashed (Fantômas se déchaîne) in 1965 and Fantomas vs. Scotland Yard (Fantômas contre Scotland Yard) in 1967. All three films were beautifully shot in ’Scope, the first two in Eastmancolor and the finale in Technicolor.

Indeed! And, on a related note, it would be great if Kino could release more Feuillade. The CNC funded a restoration of Tih Minh last year, though I've not heard anything further about it.

Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics Acquisitions
Nixon, the Oliver Stone film? I've not heard anything about this release and blu-ray.com doesn't even have it listed in their upcoming releases database. Can you provide some details? Will this have any differences from the existing Election Year Edition released in 2008? Will the theatrical cut finally be included? Will it include the "making of" featurette that was included on the "Collector's Edition" DVD release but dropped from the "Election Year Edition" DVD & Blu-Ray releases?

Three rare Godards and one of Polanski's best. There's a good chance Kino's announcements will beat Criterion's.

The release will most likely be a three disc set. Include both cuts, a new historian commentary for the theatrical cut and all the previously produced extras and director's commentary.PfR73 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 15, 2019 2:07 pmNixon, the Oliver Stone film? Not sure which "making of" featurette you're talking about, I don't see it listed anywhere.
